Tom Petty to perform at Superbowl ?!?
The NFL announced this week (www.nfl.com/superbowl) that Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will perform at this years halftime show at The Superbowl. My initial reaction was one of disappointment. How could an event as prestigious and as highly viewed as the superbowl halftime show allow such a light weight to grace their sacred stage. Blasphemous! I mean what were they thinking...we deserve better than that! I mean what has Tom Petty ever given us except for "Free Fallin" and "Last Dance with Mary Jane". Oh yeah and "Runnin Down a Dream" and "You Don't Know How It Feels"......and I also like "Refugee" and "Don't Come Around Here No More"! Wait a minute...Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers have a pretty good body of work...yeah I kinda like them. So, why the initial shock? Then I remembered that after last years half time show anybody would be a disappointment.
Last years show featured Prince and it was by far the greatest half time show the superbowl has ever or will ever see. In the pouring rain Prince performed an electrifying, funky, guitar driven set that featured tunes from Jimi Hendrix and the Foo Fighters as well as some of his signature classics. It was absolutely mesmerizing. And it will never be topped or repeated.
So, Tom when superbowl sunday rolls around and I'm less than enthused about your performance...please don't be offended...it's just that this year especially, you my friend are going to be the proverbial sacrificial lamb that prepares us for all the future mediocrity.

In the mean time...enjoy this track from that performance...Hendrix/Foo Fighters medley.

Post Thanksgiving Post #2
Family can be a great motivating factor for any man's success. Some of us less motivated souls will drift on memory bliss for ever and be content with easing by in life forever...that is until the blessing of children come along. There is something about another human being being totally dependent upon you that completely obliterates the need for all the other bullshit in life.
Family makes the difference.
I'm grateful for Kristian, Gracie and Judah. They gave me a reason to strive for excellence...because they are excellent.

Post Thanksgiving Post #1
Wow...what a wonderful Thanksgiving '07 was. For the first time in my five year marriage we actually hosted the family. Everything turned out better than expected...so much so that it has caused me to do some post-Thanksgiving reflection on what I am really thankful for.
First Things First - Lori G.
When I said my wedding vows at sunset on the island of Maui in April of '02, I had no idea what a wonderful adventure I was embarking on. I'm thankful for every day I have had with a person who has taken everything that I am and has given me everything that she is. Life before Maui seems like a pale shadow of real life...life since Maui has afforded me daily miracles of the beauty of knowing intimately who a person is...body, spirit and soul.
